NMHC Veterans’ Research LibraryThis is part of the ongoing development of the National Military History Center. The NMHC is currently raising funds to make this library come alive.This will be a unique facility in that its specialty will be collecting the books, manuscripts, memoirs, diaries, and journals of veterans who have preserved America’s freedom through the years. Through these personal histories, students, researchers, authors, and historians will be in a better position to understand and convey the GI experience at the individual level -- versus the standard examination of geo-political impacts and the interpretation of events by those who were not a part of them. The goal is to eventually offer a fully digitized and searchable collection of documents and images that convey the philosophy, experiences, and interactions of the American GI, at home and abroad, in times of crisis.
