Hoosier Veteran Depicted in Newest Display, “A Sacrifice for Freedom”
AUBURN – The National Military History Center (NMHC) with the help of historian and
collector, John Wassell, are currently working on the WWII galleries newest diorama,
“A Sacrifice for Freedom”. The display depicts Hoosier veteran, Pfc. Clinton W. Crouch,
taking a break from action in the hedgerows moments before he and his unit took a direct
hit from a German tank round on August 12, 1944 near Vier, France. .

The WWII Victory Museum is now the National Military History Center
This is more than a name change! This is the marking of the start of the next phase in creating a museum complex honoring our nation’s military and its remarkable soldiers, sailors and airmen who have guaranteed our freedoms for more than 200 years.
The complex will spotlight the service and sacrifice of America’s military through a variety of museum units and major galleries dedicated to Young America’s military, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, and today’s War on Terror. This newest phase of growth will create the unprecedented American Veterans Hall of Honor and Veterans Research Library. The library will not only be a research tool, but will preserve a variety of materials for future generations.

NMHC Offers Books, Lessons, New Vision for Educators
The National Military History Center (NMHC) and the American Veterans Institute (AVI) are partnering on a compelling educational initiative that will be based in Indiana but will be national in scope and influence. AVI officials have extensively researched contemporary issues with regard to teaching social studies and citizenship/leadership.
